A HOME CONNECTED TO THE BAY

Oneroa Bay brings the shared living spaces and private rooms together through a consistent palette of timber, stone and warm neutral finishes. Michael Murray Studio’s interior design centres on the relationships between rooms, bespoke cabinetry and the smaller details encountered every day.

In the kitchen, pale timber cabinetry sits alongside a substantial stone island. The island’s softened edge and the rounded rangehood give the room a sculptural character, while dark fittings and a linear pendant introduce definition. Open shelving and integrated storage keep the composition clear. The outlook remains visible through the kitchen and dining spaces, allowing the coast to shape the experience of the interior.

The same material language continues into the living areas. Joinery frames display, storage and the fireplace, giving each element a place within the room. A timber screen creates a more filtered connection between spaces.

Bathrooms carry the palette into a quieter register, combining stone surfaces, timber vanities and dark fittings. Recessed shelving and restrained lighting bring attention to texture and practical use. Across the home, continuity comes from repeating a few materials with care, while allowing each room its own character.

The completed photographs follow these relationships, from the broad coastal outlook to the cabinetry, surfaces and junctions that give the interior its identity.
